Can't find your books? Use plastic rain gutters bolted to the wall as shelves to face books outwards. Great for kids!

more about this idea...
  • Be sure to measure your tallest books first. I had to learn that the hard way. If you don't screw the shelves into studs (which isn't necessary) be sure to use plastic wall anchors for the screws about two feet apart.
  • If you don't use caps on the ends you might want to file down the edges. Sometimes the plastic can be sharp or rough.
  • Different home/DIY stores have different versions of plastic shelves. Some have a shape better suited for this. Check around.

Instead of screwing the gutters into the walls, put strips of heavy duty velcro on the wall vertically. That way the shelves are adjustable.
