I have a somewhat opposite view. First of all, I cannot remember the last time I had airline food. I guess they still serve it up in first-class? I have not stayed in a hosital but others I know have. They seem to be doing a much better job on the taste and presentation now. Some let you order at anytime, like room service. When my granddaughter was born, my son and his wife had a great looking hospital pizza in the room when we got there.

I've been with two people in the hospital in the last three years and what they were served looked like jail food. Maybe hospitals in larger metropolitan areas are better, but regional hospitals are really lagging. On the flip side, if you reserve a specialty meal when you book your ticket (vegetarian, low-sodium, etc) the airline food is really good. Try reserving a vegetarian meal the next time you fly. You'll probably be surprised. This is assuming you get a meal at all on the flight which is unlikely.
